PARTICIPATION An Post Cycle Series Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford

30 Aug 2010

Cycling legend Sean Kelly joined over 4,000 cyclists of all ages and abilities who got out on the roads of Waterford to take part in the Sean Kelly Tour over the weekend.

First off on Saturday afternoon was the 10km Kelly Ten, a family event open to all over the age of 7.  This was followed on Sunday morning with the 160km Kelly Comeragh Challenge, the 90km Kelly Coast and the 50km Kelly Cruise.

Since the inaugural tour in 2007 when 700 riders took to the roads of County Waterford this great event has gone from strength to strength.

The Irish Sports Council would like to thank the Sean Kelly Tour Committee (which is made up of representatives of Waterford Sports Partnership, Waterford County Council, County Waterford Community Forum and nine local cycling clubs) for organising the event, and congratulate all who participated and volunteered.

The Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford is part of the An Post Cycle Series which is supported by the Irish Sports Council.  The final event in the Cycle Series is the An Post Rebel Tour which takes place in Cork on Saturday, September 11th and Sunday, September 12th.  For more information see www.corksports.ie
