Swimming European Senior Championships DAY 1

Grainne Murphy, triple gold medal winner at last year's European Junior Championships, finished a creditible 7th in her first European Senior Final in the 400m freestyle yesterday in Budapest.

Grainne from Ballinaboola, Co Wexford produced a stunning a stunning performance in her heat swimming next to UK's Hannah Miley, the eventual gold medal winner.

Melanie Nocher qualified in her morning heat in the 200m breaststroke for the semi-final. Unfortunaately her time in the semi-final was not sufficient to qualify for the final.
