Shamrock Bowl XXIV features the two standout teams in Ireland over the past decade, Dublin Rebels and University of Limerick Vikings.

The Rebels have been unbeaten during the regular season,including the play-offs, winning an impressive nine straight games. One of these games was against the Vikings.

The Vikings have been playing in Europe and became the first Irish club to win a European title when winning the EFAF Atlantic Cup in June. By winning this title the club is now ranked in the top 20 in Europe- the first Irish club to achieve such a ranking for over twenty years.
