Golf Irish Ladies Open Killeen Castle 6th -8th August

The AIB Ladies Irish Open has attracted the strongest field of women professional golfers in its history at Killeen Castle on 6-8 August.

The entry includes three Irish amateurs, Danielle McVeigh (Royal Co. Down Ladies) and the talented Maguire twins, Leona and Lisa, of Slieve Russell, all of whom represented Great Britain and Ireland at the Curtis Cup in Boston, USA earlier this year. Irish professionals Claire Coughlan-Ryan, Tara Delaney, Martina Gillen and Hazel Kavanagh are also in the star-studded field which boasts five current American Solheim Cup players and the full European team that includes world ranked 3rd, Suzanne Pettersen who won the event in 2008, Anna Nordqvist ranked 6th, Laura Davies, current European No. 1, Catriona Mathew MBE, reigning Ricoh British Open Champion, Sophie Gustafson, past multiple winner of the Ladies Irish Open, Maria Hjorth and Helen Alfredsson, the 2007 Solheim Cup Captain. The 54 holes event tees off on Friday, with a cut following Saturday's second round and the champion being crowned on Sunday afternoon.
