SWIMMING Irish Swimmers Advance at European Junior Championships

On day two of competition, Ireland’s Sycerika McMahon of Leander swimming club has qualified in fastest position for this afternoon’s 400m freestyle final at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Helsinki - following an outstanding swim in the heats this morning. The fifteen year-old clocked a 4.17.81 and goes in the final later today at approximately 15.05 Irish time.

Shani Stallard of New Ross swimming club was also in action today, in the 200m breaststroke, finishing in a very respectable 2.35.99, advancing her to the semi-finals to be swum later today. McMahon’s finishing time in the 200m breaststroke was 2.39.91.
