PARTICIPATION Mens Health Forum in Ireland 10k / 5k / 3k Run - Get Up. Get Out. Get Going!

07 Jul 2010

Males (and females who are prepared to dress as males) are invited to take part in one of a series of runs being organised by the Men's Health Forum in Ireland (MHFI). This event is an extension of MHFI's celebration of International Men's Health Week 2010. During this week, men in Ireland were called upon to "Get Up. Get Out. Get Going!" and to increase their level of physical activity.

You are encouraged to enter one of the 10km or 5km runs, or the 3km fun run / walk, which will be held in the spectacular surroundings of Ardgillan Castle, near Skerries, in Co. Dublin. This event will take place on Saturday 4th September 2010, with the races beginning at 1.30pm.

Both the 10km and 5km events will be competitive races, and the first three finishers in each will receive a laser engraved glass trophy. Registration is required for these runs, and can be done online at www.runireland.com The cost is €15 per person for the 10km run and €10 per person for the 5km run when booked online (€20 for on-the-day registration). Everyone - from seasoned runners to absolute beginners - will be very welcome. However, for the 10km run, all competitors must be aged 15 years or over. For the 3km event, just turn up on the day and join in. It's free!

All participants (in any of the runs) will receive a Finishers' Medal to prove to their family and friends that they had the guts to meet this challenge.

If you are new to running, MHFI is offering an online step-by-step training programme to help you to prepare for this event. See www.mhfi.org for more details.

As well as the competitive races, this will be a great fun day out. Bring the rest of your family, walk around the gardens, have a picnic in the park, go to the playground, join in the other activities on offer, have a free health check ... there may even be a few famous faces there as well - you never know!
