BOXING World Series of Boxing

Ken Egan, John Joe Nevin and David Oliver Joyce have been signed up by teams from Miami, Paris and Delhi ahead of the AIBA sanctioned World Series of Boxing (WSB) which begins next November.

The Irish Irish trio were amongst 175 boxers from 64 countries on offer to 12 city-based franchises from the Americas, Asia and Europe at today's WSB international draft in London.

Light-heavyweight Egan, who is presently in Uganda working with the Children's A-Z charity, was snapped up by Miami, who will face Boston in their opening match.

Nevin, who claimed bantamweight bronze at the 2009 AIBA World Senior Championships in Milan, was the first choice of the Paris based franchise. Paris will meet Moscow in their first outing.

St Michael's Athy lightweight David Oliver Joyce, the current European Union champion, will line out for Delhi versus Baku in November.

Beijing Olympian John Joe Joyce, who has also signed up for the WSB, was not selected today.

IABA President Dominic O'Rourke and IABA Chief Executive Don Stewart attended today's international draft at the Millennium Kensington Hotel in London.
