PARALYMPICS Paralympic Council of Ireland appoints Sinead McElroy as Programmes Coordinator

The Paralympic Council of Ireland are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sinead McElroy as Programmes Coordinator, commencing April 8th at the Renault Ireland Team 2012 Camp at the University of Limerick and Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel.

McElroy joins the staff team at PCI following 8 years experience at the Irish Sports Council in a variety of roles ranging from Athlete Performance Services at the IIS, Anti-Doping and the PR Departments. McElroy worked closely with PCI in the build up to the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games coordinating PCI's media service with Communications Officer, John Fulham.

The role of Programmes Coordinator will cover four primary areas of work for the PCI. McElroy will provide assistance to the Paralympic Performance Director in designing and implementing the High Performance Programmes for squads and individual athletes leading to the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Sinead will also lead in the following areas which PCI will develop over the coming years:

  1. Classification: The development and implementation of a National Classification Strategy for Paralympic sports ensuring the PCI are compliant with the IPC Classification Code.
  2. Education: The rollout of PCI's Education Programme to heighten awareness of Paralympic sports in Ireland, specifically targeting schoolchildren.
  3. vents: The planning, delivery and evaluation of PCI events.
