CRICKET Ireland qualify for World Twenty/20 Finals

Ireland lost by 8 wickets to Afghanistan in the Final of World Twenty/20 Qualifying Tournament in Dubai at the weekend. Ireland had qualified for the final following victories against the UAE and the Netherlands in the Super 4s

Though losing the Final the Irish team achieved its goal of gaining one of the two qualifying places on offer for the World Twenty/20 Finals in the Caribbean in April. They will be in a group with the West Indies and England in Guyana.

Clontarf's all-rounder Alex Cusack was named Overall Player of the Tournament.
