Sport Ireland Institute HPX Nutrition 2024 is just around the corner. This event will explore the theme ‘Impactful Nutrition: What Matters for Performance’ and is sure to be of great interest to sports and active nutrition professionals.

HPX 2024, held in partnership with the National Dairy Council, will examine if we fully recognise and utilise nutrition’s impact on athlete health and performance. Although research in sports nutrition has grown, traditional measures such as body composition and hydration status sometimes miss important underlying details.

By sharing knowledge, uncovering research gaps, and exploring innovative approaches, HPX 2024 aims to maximise the positive impact of nutrition on athletic performance.

Through expert discussions and athlete insights, attendees will gain a valuable understanding of high-performance nutrition and recovery strategies.

The multidisciplinary approach, featuring reflections on the Paris Games and networking workshops, will equip attendees with the knowledge to harness the power of nutrition, recovery, wearable technology, and data-driven methods to elevate athlete performance.

Speakers

The event will be chaired by Giles Warrington, Head of Department and Professor of Human Performance and Innovation in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS) at the University of Limerick.

The conference will feature expert insights from Dr Ben Cousins, Head of Academy Sport Science at Premier League football club Brentford, who will outline how research and data is being used to optimise athlete performance.

Health and performance nutritionist and founder of Bridge Nutrition Laura Kealy and Niamh Mallon, Niamh is a Galway Camogie player and sports science performance nutritionist at ORRECO. The pair will be discussing the challenges and barriers to measuring beyond traditional metrics.

David Dunne will be giving a presentation titled ‘Bridging the Gap: High-Performance Applied Research for Real-World Impact’. David is a seasoned Performance Nutritionist with over a decade of applied experience in elite sport.
