ROWING Ireland Adaptive Coxed Four just miss out on semi-finals at World Rowing Championship in Poland

Ireland's top adaptive rowing crew, the legs, trunk and arms coxed four, were just one place off qualification for the semi-finals of the World Championships in Poznan,Poland today.


In a repechage which was won comfortably by Canada, Ireland disputed the second of the two qualification places but could not head Australia and were three seconds behind them at the finish.


The crew of Emer Patten, Shane Ryan, Kevin du Toit, Sarah Caffrey and cox Amy Judge competing in LTA4+ CLASS set a brisk pace of the start. At the mid point they were pushing both Canada and Australia for the final qualifying spot for Friday's semi-finals but were unable to make up the distance at the finish. By finshing third they just missed out by one place and they will now contest the B finals ( places 7 - 12) on Friday..


The trunks and arms double scull of Vincent Culhane and Karen Cromie are also set for Friday's B finals, finishing fourth in their repechage.

 

Casey fails to qualify from repechage for semi-final

Meanwhile Sean Casey finished third in the men's single scull repechage missing out on a chance to compete in the A or B finals. The race was won by Ondrej Synek (Czech Republic) with Ariel Suarez (Argentina) came second with Sean Casey a clear third well ahead of Jueri Jaanson (Estonia). Synek and Suarez now go through to the semi-finals.
