ATHLETICS Gillick and Hession qualify

David Gillick and Paul Hession successfully came through their respective heats this morning in Berlin. Gillick completed his 400m heat in 45.54 secs in second place behind heat winner Rober Tobin, GB to qualify for tomorrow's Semi-Final. Hession also finished second in his 200m heat in 20.66 secs behind heat winner Steven Mullings, Jamacia to qualify for this evening's Quarter-Final.

Unfortunately Ireland's other two comeptitors this morning Deirdre Ryan and Deirdre Byrne failed to come through their respecive events, the High Jump and 1500m.
