Protected Disclosures
Protected Disclosures
Section 22 of the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 requires the publication of a report each year relating to the number of protected disclosures made in the preceding year and any actions taken in response to such disclosures.
Sport Ireland operates a Protected Disclosures Policy (“Policy”), which is reviewed and approved every three years by the Sport Ireland Board, most recently in April 2023.
Following the introduction of the new Protected Disclosures legislation on the 1 January 2023 and as required by the Act, Sport Ireland has established a dedicated internal reporting channel to facilitate workers to report potential wrongdoing. Sport Ireland also has comprehensive procedures in place to assist workers in making a report. The procedures promote principles of good corporate governance by providing a mechanism for the reporting and addressing of concerns about possible relevant wrongdoings within the meaning of the Protected Disclosures Act 2014, as amended.
Sport Ireland further confirms it has, as required, reported the following information for 2023 to the Minister as per link available below.
Details of previous years can be accessed in relevant Annual Reports.
