WINTER OLYMPICS Winter Sports Irish qualify for Winter Olympics

Ireland will be represented for the first time at the Winter Olympics in the women's Bobsleigh.

Following a successful run at the weekend in St Moritz by pilot Aoife Hoey and brakewoman Clare Bergin, Ireland took the final qualifying spot and will be one of 20 x 2 women bobsleigh teams in Vancouver.

Further good news came when Pat Shannon also took a qualifying place in the men's Skeleton. Pat is one of thirty qualifiers for the event

The Irish Sports Council funds winter sports through the Snowsports Association of Ireland and the Irish Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association.
