Dublin v Mayo in this year’s All-Ireland Football Semi-Final at Croke Park. Another chance to see this classic encounter between Dublin and the tribesmen. It’s a game which will stay in people’s minds for a long time and this is your chance to see it again. Commentary by Mac Dara Mac Donncha.


MONDAY 25 DECEMBER

The final countdown of TG4 viewers' choices as goals of the year in both hurling and football,  taken from various games throughout the year.  The votes have been cast, texts have been sent and votes have also been cast on the TG4 website and this year’s best goals have been chosen. Fifteen football goals and the same amount in the hurling have been chosen from various competitions during the year.

The life and legacy of the pioneering Irish sports broadcaster,  "the voice of the GAA"  throughout his 50 year career with RTة.  Micheلl O’Hehir went on to become a major figure in the television era also.  This new programme combines archive of many of his finest commentaries as well as tributes from colleagues and friends.

A chance to see the 1966 All-Ireland Hurling Final between Kilkenny and Cork.
This was the year that seating under the Cusack stand reduced the capacity of Croke park to about 75,000. Commentary by Micheلl س hEithir.

This documentary was produced last year remembering the 25th Anniversary of the death of Christy Ring, arguably Irelands greatest ever hurler. In this hour long programme we look back at his life and career. Included in the documentary are some archive shots of Ring in action as well as interviews with GAA personalties.

Kilkenny v Tipperary in this year’s Erin Under-21 All Ireland Hurling Final Replay. After drawing 2-14 each in a thrilling match at Croke Park the teams met again in the replay six days later in Thurles for another nail biting finish. Commentary by Brian Tyers.

In 1986, one of the world’s most prestigious soccer tournaments, the UEFA Cup, came to a small Gaeltacht village in the west of Ireland.  The Dutch team, FC Groningen, had been drawn against Galway United, but little did Groningen and their squad of Dutch internationals think they would be playing on a windswept community pitch in An Cheathrْ Rua, used primarily by the local GAA team, and lacking such soccer niceties as grandstands and floodlights! Twenty years prior to Croke Park’s decision to open its ground to soccer, what led to a UEFA Cup match being played on An Cheathrْ Rua GAA club’s home ground?
