The Irish Times Sport Ireland Sportswoman of the Month August

The Irish Times Sport Ireland Sportswoman of the Month award for August 2023 goes to joint winners, Katie-George Dunlevy and Hannah Tyrrell.

Multi Olympic gold medalist, Katie-George Dunlevy had another memorable World Championship when she collected two golds and a bronze in Glasgow last month. She opened up with bronze on the track with her long-time partner Eve McCrystal, before triumphing with Linda Kelly in the time trial and road race.

Hannah Tyrrell secured her award with her performance during the All Ireland Women’s Senior Football final. Tyrrell gave an outstanding first half display of skill, during which she scored eight points from nine attempts, and sent Dublin on their way to victory over Kerry in the final. Her performance earned her the player of the match award and saw her add to a collection of honours that makes her one of Ireland's most successful ever sporting all-rounders, having already starred in rugby and soccer.
