04 Oct 2012

European Athletics has confirmed the teams which will take part in the European Team Championships 1st League in the Morton Stadium, Dublin on June 22-23, 2013.

In what will undoubtedly be the highest quality track & field competition ever staged in Ireland, Irish sports fans will be in for a treat with a large number of Olympic medallists and world stars on show.

The Czech Republic will be one of the favourites to win the overall title with Olympic Javelin Champion Barbora Spotakova and Olympic 400m Hurdles bronze medallist Zuzana Hejnova leading their team in the Morton Stadium next June.

The Belgians will be hoping for fireworks from the Borlée brothers in the sprint events both of whom made the Olympic 400m final in London this year. However whether David Gillick or Brian Gregan ultimately wear the Irish vest in the 400m, the home crowd will be hoping to play a major part and could well put a spanner in the works.

The Finns will be strong in the throwing events as usual and the Netherlands will be hoping Churandy Martina, who was the first non Jamaican or American in the Olympic 100m final will win them maximum points in the sprint events.

With the Swedish hurdlers and jumpers, the Portuguese distance runners and Hungarian Olympic Hammer Champion Krisztiلn Pars, it promises to be the best weekend of athletics ever witnessed in Ireland.

The event website will go live on January 1st
