SWIMMING Sycerika McMahon Qualifies for European Junior Final

Ireland’s Sycerika McMahon kicked off day one of the European Junior Swimming Championships in Helsinki, Finland this morning by qualifying into 7th position for this afternoon’s 400m Individual Medley final, with a time of 4 minutes 55.38.


The fifteen year-old county Down swimmer also swam in the 200m butterfly heats earlier today (2.20.25) and has qualified for the semi-final which will be swum this afternoon.


Ireland has a two-member squad in the Finland capital – Sycerika is joined by Kilkenny’s Shani Stallard who was not in action today. For a full race schedule for the Irish squad please visit www.swimireland.ie
