Sprocket Rocket Family Festival Returns to Punchestown for Bike Week

22 May 2012

Following the success of the 2011 festival the National Sprocket Rocket Family event returns to Punchestown on the 16th of June 2012, with a guarantee of fun.

Sprocket Rocket is a cycling skills programme aimed at kids aged between 6-11, which is delivered over 8 sessions. To date over 2500 kids have successfully completed Sprocket Rocket, gaining the fundamental cycling skills that will equip them for the future.

The National SUBWAY Sprocket Rocket Family Festival was introduced in 2011 to give cyclists a chance to try out Sprocket Rocket in a fun environment, where all members of the family can take part.

Along with tackling the 4 Sprocket Rocket skills zones the young cyclists can take part in cycling orienteering, grass track racing and participate in BMX workshops run by the popular urban BMX group Ramp Rage, who will be performing throughout the day.

Cycling Ireland's new Gearing Up programme will have a "Come and Try" zone, where the more experienced kids get to test themselves on a course similar to that used by youths in top cycling nations like France and Switzerland. The Gearing Up Programme has been introduced to further develop the skills of the cyclist who has graduated from Sprocket Rocket.
