Sports Council Challenge

10 Apr 2014

The Sports Council Challenge is a four week challenge for companies taking place in May 2014. Companies are encouraged to set a physical activity challenge for their organisation to accomplish during the month. The aim is that employees will fit thirty minutes of any type of physical activity into their day and everyone's physical activity is counted towards the company's goal. The Irish Sports Council are giving organizations the support required to help get staff more active and will be awarding the companies that go above and beyond to encourage staff to get more active.

The Chief Executive of the Irish Sports Council, John Treacy said:

"Over 6,500 employees in 125 companies have participated in the Sports Council Challenge in the last two years. It is very encouraging to see so many companies taking part which will help
develop habits of regular exercise which will ultimately lead to improved physical and mental wellbeing of staff."

The Irish Sports Council are working with several partners including the Irish Heart Foundation and will be providing the winning companies with a special package, which will help companies stay active beyond the Sports Council Challenge.

By setting a challenge or a goal it is easier to keep people involved and interested. The more unique you make it, the more interesting it will be to achieve. Companies can also use the Sport Council Challenge as an opportunity to fundraise for a local cause or charity.
