Sport Ireland is thrilled to welcome the Northern European Gymnastics Championships and gold-medal winning Olympian Rhys McClenaghan to the Sport Ireland Campus this week.

Dr Úna May, Sport Ireland CEO, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Northern European Gymnastics Championships to the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena.

“It’s a privilege to be able to host such a high-level event on campus, particularly off the back of the recent success of Irish gymnastics in Paris.”

This year Rhys McClenaghan, who won gold on the pommel horse at the Paris Olympics, will be on Campus as part of the ‘in-arena’ presenter team.

Rhys McClenaghan said: “I'm thrilled to be part of the event presentation team at the Northern Europeans in September.

“On some downtime from training, I'm excited to have the opportunity to be behind the microphone and help the audience in the arena understand and follow all the excitement of the competition.

“I look forward to sharing my insights with the spectators and I hope to see a great turn-out.”

This 12-nation men's & women's international event will see world-class gymnasts battle it out for the Team, All-Around and the Apparatus titles taking place in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena, Dublin, this Saturday and Sunday (September 20-21).

Competing nations include Denmark, England, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Wales and of course the home team Ireland.
