SHOW JUMPING Irish Team to Donate Nations Cup Prize Money to Haiti Relief

The Irish Show Jumping Team have announced that they will donate any prize money they win in the Nations' Cup in Abu Dhabi on Friday (February 5) to GOAL to aid the relief effort in Haiti.

First prize in the Nations' Cup is 30,000 euro with 20,000 euro for second place and prize money down as far as 6,000 euro for sixth place. Eleven teams are expected to take part in the competition. The Irish team consists of Cameron Hanley, Dermott Lennon, Cian O'Connor and Billy Twomey.

Speaking from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates Irish Chef d'Equipe Robert Splaine said that riders had been struck by what had happened in Haiti and that they wanted to make a contribution.

The Nations' Cup of Abu Dhabi begins at noon Irish time on Friday and the progress of the riders can be followed on www.horsesportireland.ie or on the Team Ireland Equestrian Facebook page.
