SHOW JUMPING - IRELAND GOES THROUGH TO SECOND ROUND OF EUROPEAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

THE Irish show jumping team has qualified for the second round of the Nations' Cup at the European Championships in Herning, Denmark, after finishing ninth of 19 teams this morning (Wednesday).

The top ten nations will battle it out for medals in the final round of the team competition on Thursday evening, with the Individual Championship Final taking place on Saturday afternoon. Tipperary's Shane Breen is currently the highest-placed individual Irish rider, holding 12th place overall after his clear round in the team competition today with Balloon.

Other team scores today were nine faults for Shane Sweetnam and Amaretto Darco, with Cameron Hanley picking up the same number of penalties on Antello Z. Conor Swail and Lansdowne had four faults.

After two days of jumping, Great Britain leads the team table on 8.18 penalties, while Ireland has registered 22.42 penalties.
