Scott Evans - New World Rankings

18 Mar 2015

In the new world rankings, the 27-year-old Dubliner is ranked No. 24, his highest ever. The double Olympian jumps seven positions in the new rankings - a direct result of his run to the last
16 at last week's All England Open Championships, the badminton equivalent of Wimbledon.

Scott, Ireland's No. 1, has also had a very successful year, winning the Brazil Grand Prix and reaching the finals of the $120,000 Bitburger Open Grand Prix gold event in Germany. Over the course of the last year, his ranking has improved from 69 to 24.

This ranking will hugely encourage the young Irishman as he bids to qualify for Rio 2016. Evans was the first Irishman ever to compete at Olympic level, playing at the Beijing Summer
Olympics 2008 and again at London 2012.

His ranking is the highest ever by an Irishman in modern times.
