SAILING Junior & Girl competitors now announced for the ISA All Ireland Sailing Championship 2009

21 Sep 2009

The ISA announced the 18 competitors who will compete in the ISA Junior & Girls All Ireland Sailing Championship 2009 hosted this coming weekend (26th & 27th September 2009) in Royal Cork Yacht Club. The Junior & Girl's competition will take place in the single handed Olympic class Laser Radial dinghy.

Since winning last year's event, 2009 brought success to Philip Doran on the international circuit, cumulating in Japan when he took the Under 17 Title at the Laser Radial Youth World Championship. A member of the ISA Youth Academy, Phillip will face strong opposition from Mattie O'Dowd, who also saw international success when won his first Laser Radial Europa Cup in Denmark earlier this year.

With eight strong girl entrants, the boys should expect strong competition from the likes of Saskia Tidey, who represented Ireland in the Laser Radial class at the Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Brazil

The Junior & Girls sailing competition begins Saturday morning, while the senior's fleet will commence on Friday in the ISA SailFleet J80 Keelboats.
