Details are being finalised this week for the Cross Border Powerboat Race for Peace and Sport taking place on Lough Ramor, Virginia, Co Cavan this weekend (5th & 6th September 2009).

The competition presents an opportunity for those who normally do not race together to compete side by side in the one event. RYA Powerboat Racing Manager, John Puddifoot, will make the journey across the Irish Sea to head the UK drivers. He will also race the Formula SL 250 for the first time in Ireland.

Irish competitors from ISA Powerboat Racing Clubs will travel from Antrim, Dublin, Fermanagh, Kerry, Kildare, Meath, Tipperary, Waterford and Westmeath to compete in this highly competitive sport.

The Lakeside Manor Hotel is the base hotel for the event; it is conveniently located between the shores of Lough Ramor and the main Dublin to Cavan route (N3).

The hotel will provide family entertainment each day with a bouncing castle for the children. Irish entertainment will be provided on Saturday night, 5th September for all visitors which will include traditional story telling and music plus much more.

Denis Dillon, ISA Motorboat Development Officer commented: "Powerboat racing is an exciting spectator sport and the Lakeside Manor Hotel will provide plenty of activities for all the family, we hope to see as many people as possible at the event this weekend."
