ROWING Irish Junior Women Rowers pip England in Home Internationals at weekend

Ireland won the junior womens match by one point from England at the Home International Rowing Championships in Nottingham. England were best in the senior womens and mens matches, and pipped Ireland by two points in the junior mens match.


World Under-23 Rowing Championships, Czech Republic

Meanwhile Irelands lightweight double scull won the C Final, placing them 13th overall, at the World Under-23 Championships in Racice in the Czech Republic. Lightweight single sculler Michael Maher was third in his C Final.

Lightweight Double Scull C Final (places 13 to 18): 1 Ireland (N Kenny, M ODonovan) 6:29.19, 2 Poland 6:31.67, 3 Australia 6:32.47, 4 Czech Republic 6:37.69, 5 France 6:37.89, 6 United States 6:45.27.
Lightweight Single Scull C Final: 1 Turkey 7:08.27, 2 Azerbaijan 7:08.50, 3 Ireland (M Maher) 7:13.25, 4 Bulgaria 7:14.16, 5 Italy 7:26.65, 6 Peru 7:31.31.
