Rain Disrupts Ireland T20 World Cup Qualifier Preparations
Ireland's T20 World Cup qualifying preparations were further disrupted following the abandonment of their match with Oman at Stormont at the half-way stage.
At least this time - unlike their wipe-out with UAE on Monday - the Irish were able to get onto the park, and in a clinical display with the ball, dismissed Oman for just 91 in 18.5 overs.
George Dockrell (3-15) and Alex Cusack (3-20) picked up three wickets apiece, with John Mooney (2-15), Kevin O'Brien (1-8), and Tyrone Kane (1-16) the other successful bowlers.
Merrion all-rounder Kane - preferred to Craig Young - got the Irish off to a perfect start with a wicket in his first over, trapping Zeeshan Maqsood (8) lbw offering no stroke.
The Irish bowlers never allowed the Omani batsmen any breathing space, with the attack backed up by an athletic and energetic display in the field.
Seven catches were taken by Ireland - three by wicket-keeper Gary Wilson in an impressive display.
The Irish batsmen didn't get an opportunity to chase down their modest target as a torrential downpour saw the umpires abandon the game just after 4 o'clock.
Ireland start their campaign in earnest on Friday at Stormont against Namibia (10am).
