19 Jun 2012

The Institute hosted it's second Performance Analysis (PA) workshop on 15th May this year. The workshop was attended by some of the top sports performance analysts in the country from a wide variety of sports including athletics, triathlon, hockey, boxing, rugby, tennis, cricket and swimming who face the same challenges with regard to video capture and data processing.

Denise Martin spoke about her work on the the development of a training analysis system for sprint and hurdles. This was followed by a presentation from the Sports Institute Northern Ireland. Brian McCarthy then presented on the demands, challenges and rewards of International Performance Analysis in soccer. After lunch the members of the group demonstrated and showcased some of the technologies they are currently using. The Institute hopes to be able to bring this community together on a more regular basis in the future to facilitate group learning and knowledge exchange.
