Pentathlon GB Performance Director Jan Bartu in line for another award

15 Nov 2013

After claiming the prestigious Performance Coach of the Year award at the West of England Celebration of Sport Evening last month, Pentathlon GB Performance Director Jan Bartu is in line to pick another prize after being nominated for the Outstanding Services to Sport in Bath Award at the Bath Chronicle's annual sports award which take place tomorrow Wednesday 13 November.

Picking up his prize in Bristol last month, Bartu said, “I was proud to be nominated but I really didn’t expect to win the award,” before adding, “I was there to represent the Pentathlon GB Pathway, a great team of athletes, coaches, supporters and volunteers.  It’s not a one-man show, it never has been and it never will be. I have the greatest respect for everyone who was nominated for the awards and in the work of Wesport, especially their efforts to get young people into sport and keep the London 2012 legacy going.”

Bartu contributed to the creation of the Pentathlon GB’s Pathway when he arrived in the post 15 years ago. Pentathlon GB programmes have generated a succession of medals at the very highest level and a pipeline of talented young athletes.
