Patrick O’Leary in European Paracanoeing Final

Canoeing Ireland history was made as Patrick O'Leary, took to the water to compete at the 2013 European Paracanoe Championships in Portugal in the Mens K1 200m . Patrick became the first Paracanoeist to represent Ireland at International Level and has qualified for the Final.

Paracanoeing forms an integral part of Canoeing Ireland's High Performance Road to Rio Programme. Having been recently accepted into Paralympics Ireland, Canoeing Ireland are looking forward to working in conjunction with Paralympics Ireland on the  Paracanoeings Road to Rio.

The 2013 European Paracanoe Championships form part of the 2013 Canoe Sprint European Championship. Other Irish athletes competing at the Sprint European Championship include Andrzej Jezierski (Mens C1 200m), Barry Watkins (Mens K1 500m & 1000m), Sean Marchetti (Mens K1 500m) and Jenny Egan (Womens K1 500m & 5000m).
