Event 1 - Organiser: Western Lakes Cycling Club.

  • Title and Purpose of Event: "Cornmarket to Castle" - Cycle for Newcomers Distance: 20K

This cycle is ideal for anybody, even if you haven't been on a bike for years! Sign on at 10am at the Ballinrobe Cycle Centre. Spin leaves from the Cornmarket in Ballinrobe at 10:30am. The group will cycle to Ashford Castle at a very easy pace, where you can enjoy a scenic trip through the beautiful grounds of the Ashford Castle. Then back into Cong for some light refreshments, before returning to Ballinrobe at your leisure.

Train & Spin: Regular leisure cycle on Thursday evenings at 7pm from the Cornmarket in Ballinrobe

 


 

Event 2 - Organiser: North Mayo Cycling Club

  • Date:. Sunday 4 July, 2010 at 2.30pm
  • Title and Purpose of Event: Ballina "Cycle for Fun" Leisure Event Distance: 20K

Cycle will start from the New Bridge on Weir Road Ballina at 2.30pm. The cost of participating is €2 for children and €5 for adults. This cycle is to introduce people to leisure cycling. Refreshments will be served on route at the Fr. Peyton Centre in Attymass.

Train & Spin: Regular leisure cycle on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm from the Cathedral in Ballina.

 


 

Event 3 - Organiser: Castlebar Cycling Club

  • Date:. Sunday 4th July 10am from the Travellers Friend Hotel, Westport Rd, Castlebar
  • Title and Purpose of Event: Introduction to Cycling for All Distance: 16K

Castlebar Cycling Club are setting up an organised introductory leisure spin to new non-cycling club members commencing on Sunday July 4th, Sunday July 18th, Sunday August 1st, Sunday August 15th and Sunday 5th September. The event will be organised by Castlebar Cycling Club and it will provide a facility for the public to join in a cycle leisure event organised on a particular date, with a route designed to suit beginners, the club providing back up facilities in the form of a lead car, road safety, a trained cycling coach, and a back-up vehicle on the road depending on the numbers either a car containing a first aid qualified or if numbers warrant an ambulance.

With consideration for safety routes will be of a scenic nature, where possible flat terrain with a link to local communities on the route where toilet facilities and a location for refreshments will be provided.

The target market will be families with the in-focus to encourage parents to cycle with their children, taking up a healthy sport/ leisure activity which will be of benefit to them for the rest of their lives.

Train & Spin: On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from the Traveller Friend Hotel on the Westport at 10am with various distances somewhere between 10km and a maximum distance of 50km.

 


 

Event 4 - Organiser: Westport Cycling Club

  • Date:. Sunday 29th August at 2pm from Altamount St entrance to Greenway Westport, Co. Mayo
  • Title and Purpose of Event: Westport Greenway and West Road Fun Cycle Distance: 15K

The club aims to highlight the recent facility development of the Westport Greenway and Cycle Route to Murrisk while also raising awareness of the Westport Smarter Travel Project. Participants will be treated to refreshments on route at Croagh Patrick. Sedentary adults and family participants are the target group for this event.

Train & Spin: Participants will be invited to participate in regular Wednesday evening spins meeting at 6.30pm at Treeland on the West Road.
