Paralympic Council announce managers for Beijing
The Paralympic Council of Ireland (PCI) have named the team of sports managers who will travel to Beijing for the Paralympic Summer Games in 2008.
The team bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to Ireland’s Paralympic mission. The eight managers will provide support to the PCI and Chef de Mission Jimmy Byrne in the run-up to the Beijing Games.
Athlone man Noel Brennan has been named as athletics manager. Noel recently travelled to the European Athletics Championships with the Irish team. The Boccia manager is Jacquie Connolly, who was also at the helm for Athens 2004.
Tandem cyclist Denis Toomey is in charge of the cycling team, while the internationally experienced James O’Callaghan heads up the sailing squad. Geraldine Conway has been appointed swimming manager.
The seven-a-side football team will be managed by Paul Cassin and the table tennis manager is Marie Hughes. The final management position for the equestrian team has yet to be confirmed.
