Para Season Kick Starts

10 Sep 2013

Cardiff will be the host of the first 4 nation’s Para tournament of the 2013/2014 season. These tournaments are open to players from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. This weekend will see the start of the series with valuable ranking points up for grabs for all players. A Strong entry is expected for the opener with the BWF World Para Championships just around the corner.  Many of the players attending will be using this event as an opportunity to hone in their skills in preparation for the World Championships.

Ireland’s Niall McVeigh will be looking to defend both his men singles and mixed titles in the SS6 category whilst Luke Irvine will be looking to continue his success in the doubles event in SS6 category and retain his title.

Ireland’s players have had excellent preparation in the lead up to this event including the BI para squad that was held on Sunday September 1st in the National Training Centre at Marino Institute of Education.

Badminton Ireland would like to wish all players the best of luck in the event.
