Irish riders had three places in the top ten of this evening's (Saturday) Falsterbo Derby, with four of the top five finishers Irish Sport Horses.

Army rider Capt. David O'Brien took second place with the Cruising mare Mo Chroi, one of only two horses to record a double clear round from a starting field of 24, while Co. Down's Dermott Lennon placed third on the Limmerick mare Loughview Lou Lou on a first round score of four faults.

Tipperary's Shane Breen claimed seventh place with Ominerale Courcelle on eight faults.

Britain's William Funnell rode the Irish Sport Horse Dorada into fifth place with four faults on the board, while French winner Olivier Robert, who outpaced O'Brien by just under three seconds in the jump-off, also rode a Limmerick mare, the ten year-old Irish Sport Horse Belle Rock.

Robert collected 19,800 euro for his win, while O'Brien took the runner-up prize of 12,000 euro, and Lennon 9,000 euro for his third place.
