05 Apr 2013

The IHA this week received confirmation from the FIH of the details of the FIH World League Semi-Finals which Andrew Meredith's Mens Team will feature in Rotterdam in June this year. Ireland's 'Green Machine' qualified for the FIH World League Semi-Finals following exceptional performances in India at FIH World League 2 in February. Ireland finished second in the group behind hosts India who only narrowly beat the Green Machine 3-2 in a tight affair in New Delhi and the two sides may get the opportunity to face each other yet again in the Semi-Finals.

Ireland will travel to Rotterdam, Holland from 13th - 23rd June 2013 for their World League Semi-Finals where they are pooled into a group of four teams initially with three of Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, India or two other yet to be determined qualifiers i.e. the winner of the upcoming World League 2 tournament in France and the highest ranked second place team from the French or Russia World League 2 competition.

The other World League 2 Semi Finals will take place a week later in Johor Bahru in Malaysia and will feature Germany, England, Pakistan, Korea, Argentina, South Africa, Malaysia and the winner of the Russian hosted World League 2 tournament.

Ireland Coach Andrew Meredith's preparations for World League Semi-Finals are well underway already and will include the Irish coach and his staff attending and analysing the first three rounds of the Irish Hockey League action which begins this weekend before naming a 24 man squad (+ four reserves) for the World League Semi-Finals on 15th April 2013.

Details of tickets and full match schedules for the World League Semi Finals will be announced following completion of the on-going World League 2 tournaments.
