McMahon books Semi-Final spot

23 Nov 2012

Sycerika McMahon has continued her good form on Day 2 of the European SC Swimming Championships in Chartres. After winning a 50m Breaststroke Bronze medal yesterday, the London Olympian was back in the pool this morning in the Heats of the 100m Individual Medley. McMahon delivered another sterling performance to break Grainne Murphy's Irish Senior Record of 1:02.18 which she set at the European SC Championships in 2010. Sycerika touched in 1:02.13 to reach this afternoon's semi-final ranked in 15th position.

Tallaght and NAC High Performance Centre Swimmer Brendan Hyland was also in record breaking form again today as he set a new junior standard in the men's 400m Individual Medley touching in 4:25.11, knocking over a second off Shane Aherne's 2005 record.

McMahon's semi-final will take place at 16:47.
