McCullough sets Irish U23 Hammer Record
Conor McCullough (Crusaders AC) last night smashed the Irish U23 hammer record in Luzern with a throw of 75.09m. The throw is a new personal best and betters the 71.10m record of Gary Halpin from 1988. A transfer of allegiance form was completed by McCullough in recent weeks allowing him compete for Ireland.
At the same meet Paul Hession was second in the 200m in a time of 20.54 and Deirdre Ryan (Dundrum South Dublin AC) cleared 1.86m in the high jump.
In Lignano Derval O'Rourke (Leevale AC) ran a season's best of 13.02 for second in the 100m hurdles behind Lolo Jones of America who won in 12.85. Roseanne Galligan (Newbridge AC) clocked 2:02.72 over 800m.
