Ellen Keane posted her fourth personal best of the IPC Swimming European Championships in Berlin today but could not replicate her form in the heats in the SB9 100m Breaststroke final.

The 17-year-old, who competed in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games at the tender age of thirteen, has shown well in this year's championships so far with another lifetime personal best time of 1.24.78. However her final time of 1.25.36 placed her fifth overall in the SB9 100m Breaststroke . The young Dubliner commented, "I was very pleased with my swims today, a good personal best in the heats this morning, I couldn't quite match that tonight in the final but I'm improving all the time."

Dave Malone, Head of Paralympic Swimming, reflected on the teams performances on Day 3 of the IPC Swimming European Championships, "We had a mixed day here at the European championships, it was good to have four swimmers again qualify for the finals and another lifetime best from Ellen. However overall there are areas to improve on in all swims and I'm confident the athletes will take that on board."

Other Irish results from the pool today saw James Scully finish seventh in the S5 50m Backstroke with a time of 46.64, James Campbell finished 6th in the final of the S11 400m Freestyle in 5.30.83 and Jonathan McGrath finished 8th in the S8 400m Freestyle clocking 5.01.43.

Competition continues at the Swimming and Diving Center in Europasportpark.
