Irish Progress To Last 16
It was a great opening day for the Irish in the 2014 Brazil Grand Prix event with four of team Ireland making last 16 of the tournament. The event follows on from two other good results at the Canadian and US Grand Prix Gold events, with players reaching the quarter finals.
The Brazil Grand Prix is a perfect test event looking towards the Olympics in 2016; the Irish team are continuing to learn how to deal with the eastwards travel, having normally to cope with Eastwards travel, with the main events in the far east.
In the Wednesday matches Evans beat his Canadian opposition in straight games. Chloe Magee also had a straight three game win in her singles and also will compete in the last 16 of the mixed with her brother Sam. Later in the day Sam partnered his brother Joshua who had lost out earlier in his singles to a Mexican opponent, they beat a Brazilian partnership to join Chloe and Scott in the last 16.
