The Irish men’s hockey team is gunning for a chance of European glory in the EuroHockey Championship B Qualifiers on the Sport Ireland Campus this week.

The event – running from August 22nd-25th - sees eight nations battling it out in the knockout tournament for one of the two remaining spots in the 2025 EuroHockey Championships, the top tier of European hockey.

This tournament will provide an opportunity for fans to witness top-tier hockey live in Blanchardstown, Dublin – and there are tickets still available.

The Irish team, fresh from their outing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and ranked ninth in the Outdoor World Rankings, enter the tournament as strong contenders.

However, the competition is fierce with teams from Wales, Italy, Poland, Czechia, Türkiye, Luxembourg, and Malta all eager to claim their place in Europe’s elite competition.

The event kicks off with four matches on Thursday, including Ireland’s opening game against Malta at 5.45pm.

The tournament format ensures plenty of action, with matches everyday culminating in the final on Sunday, August 25th, where the top two teams will secure their spots in next year’s EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach, Germany.

The event is the latest high-profile sporting occasion on the Sport Ireland Campus, which just two weeks ago hosted the U20 Women’s European Volleyball Championships. Meanwhile, on December 1st the Campus will welcome the return of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup to the Campus.
