Ireland batted for the third time in three days with captain William Porterfield winning the toss and he chose to set the hosts, United Arab Emirates a total to chase.

Despite getting off to a flyer and being 30 for 0 in the 4th over, Ireland lost 2 quick wickets with Stirling going for 13 and Niall O’Brien falling for a third ball duck. When Porterfield was run out a couple of overs later, Ireland were in a bit of trouble at 42 for 3.

Gary Wilson and Kevin O’Brien came together and the pair looked to consolidate for Ireland but runs aren’t coming quickly on a sluggish pitch in the shadows of the main stadium in Abu Dhabi.

At the halfway point of Ireland’s innings, the score was 58 for 3.
