ILGU - British Ladies Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship and Senior European Team Championships
Jessica Ross (Clandeboye) is best of the Irish at Knock Golf Club entering the final 36 holes tomorrow, as she trails the leader by three shots. Ross added a second round 74 to her opening 73. She had a less than steady start after dropping shots on the 2nd, 4th and 5th but fired back with a number of birdies to card a 74. 15 year old Annabel Wilson (Lurgan) was a model of consistency as she added another round of 74, which included four bogeys and three birdies.
Placed in the top 20 are Mairead Martin (Killarney) and Chloe Ryan (Castletroy), while Valerie Clancy (Killarney) also made the cut. Italian player Alessia Nobilio leads the field by one from English players Sophie Lamb and Georgia Price.
All top 40 qualifiers will play the final 36 holes tomorrow, Friday 2 September.

Semi-Final stage for Seniors at European Championships

The Irish Senior Women’s team overcame sixth seed Switzerland in the quarter-finals of flight A at the European Senior Ladies Team Championships in Poland. The top foursomes match of Carol Wickham and Sheena McElroy was close throughout and finished in a halved match. Swiss player Jackie Dangel-Orley dominated the second match against Suzanne Corcoran and gained a point for the opposing side with a 4&3 win. Irish Seniors Close Champion Gertie McMullen (The Island) proved her class and was next to secure a 7&5 win over her opponent. Both Mary Sheehy (Tralee) and Laura Webb (East Berkshire) followed suit and with 3&2 and 4&3 wins, respectively.
Ireland will play Sweden in the semi-final tomorrow, after they overcame second place qualifiers France in dramatic fashion, with the final two matches secured on the 20th hole.
