HSE Community Games May National Finals 2012

The First weekend of the HSE Community Games National Finals 2012 will take place this coming weekend on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May in Athlone Institute of Technology, Athlone, Co Westmeath.

• The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins will officially open the games at 5.15pm on Friday 25th May in the John Count McCormack Hall, in Athlone Institute of Technology, Athlone, Co Westmeath.
• Nearly 2,600 Children from 30 Counties will participate in sporting and cultural activities including; Art, Model making, Chess, Choir, Cross Country, Draughts, Handball, Handwriting, Indoor Soccer, Relays, Table Tennis, and Talent competitions including disco dancing, Irish dancing, singing, music and comedy sketch. Over 200,000 young people from across Ireland take part in the HSE Community Games per year, making it an essential part of the Irish year. The two remaining finals will take place in Athlone Institute of Technology from the 17th - 19th August and the 24th - 26th August.
• Olympic Torch Relay nominee, Aine Holden will participate with her local choir from Carlow on Saturday from 1pm.
