Hell of the West Entry

21 Dec 2013

TI felt it would help members if there was
some clarification of the entry process for the Standard Distance National
Championship at Hell of the West.

The organisers, Limerick Tri Club, have had
concerns with the first come first served system and members who have had to
sit beside a PC waiting for the registration to open only to miss out as they
were a few minutes late will know all to well the problems.

Accordingly they have opted for a
pre-registration system, which will issue a unique code that can then be used when registration opens.

The organisers have also agreed to have a
priority system for Race Licence holders so that all those wanting to enter for
their Vodafone National Series ranking points or title hopes should be able to do so.

With 2014 being the 30th year of
the race and with it being a National Championships too the race should be a
fantastic celebration of Triathlon.

The race organisers have sent TI the
following information to help clarify the entry process;

“Pre-Registration for INDIVIDUAL
entries will be open from midday on 1 January 2014 until midnight on 31 January
2014.  To register interest,

individuals must provide their Name, TI
number, Email address and

Mobile number.   Registration for
RELAY entries will take place in

March, and details will be made available
in early February.

Successful pre-registrants will
receive notification with a unique code that will be linked to the name/email
address provided during pre-registration, please note this code can only be
used once.  The code may be used to register at any time between 7
February and 21 February.

This year's registration fee is 65,
inclusive of all third-party administrative charges.  Based on entry
numbers from the past few years, we currently anticipate that everyone who

pre-registers in January will obtain
a place.

If your club normally registers
members as a group, you must still

pre-register
individually, but payment may be organized through the

club
directly with the race secretary.

We intend this revised registration
process to neutralize any issues related to a time-specific entry, such as
individual internet speeds, work or personal commitments that conflict with
entry times, payment issues, etc. We also want to eliminate instances of block
booking and selling places for above face-value.

There will be a waitlist, as there
always has been, to facilitate transfer of entries between

individuals. In past years we have
been able to accommodate everyone

who
wants to race, and we have no reason to think that will change. It is our hope
that this system will improve the registration process for everyone and we
welcome your questions and feedback.

2014 marks the 30th running of the
Hell of the West - we are planning a fantastic weekend of activities and are
looking forward to seeing you all there!”
