Gregan Off to a Flyer in Kazan

The Athletics programme at the 2013 World University Games got underway this morning in the hot sunshine of the central stadium in Kazan.

First on track for Team Ireland at just before 07.00 Irish time was Brian Gregan (DCU) in the fifth heat of the men's 400m. Gregan ran very well and looked comfortable while winning his heat in a time of 46.68, the second fastest overall qualifier for tomorrow's semi finals.

Tonight sees the start of the women's 800m for Ciara Everard (UCD ) and the women's 100m for Amy Foster (UUJ).
