GOLF Harrington wins American PGA Player of the Year

15 Oct 2008

Padraig Harrington was yesterday named winner of the PGA of America Player of the Year for 2008. Padraig, winner of the Open and PGA Championships in 2008 joins Nick Faldo, winner in 1990, as the only European winners of this prestigious award.

The award is based on a mathematical formula based on tournament wins, money won and scoring average. The PGA of America has honoured the best players with the PGA Player of the Year Award since 1948.

Harrington's total of 116 points to date, is good enough to hold off all challengers, eventhough there are still four tournaments remaining on the 2008 PGA Tour.
