Give a Sport a Go!

01 Feb 2011

Give a Sport a Go! That's the call from RTE's Operation Transformation team. Following last weekend's successful nationwide walk, Westmeath, Longford and Offaly Sports Partnerships will host a 'Give a Sport a Go' day in Athlone IT on Saturday, 5th February 2011 from 12-3pm. Leaders and presenters from the Operation Transformation show will attend the event and we'd like you to be there!

Families are invited to come along and sample a variety of activities, all of which are available free of charge. So whether you fancy 'tossing the Scottish Caber', doing a spot of dancing, practising your archery skills or simply taking a cycle or stroll, there'll be something for everyone, regardless of your age, fitness level or ability. Activities will be indoor and outdoor, so no need to worry about the weather.

The Local Sports Partnerships are delighted with the response shown. "People are really getting involved; we had over 200 walkers out in wet, blustery condition last weekend and over 3000 nationwide. We are inundated with queries looking for information about upcoming events and the 'Give a Sport a Go' day will offer a great opportunity to sample lots of different types of sports. Having the leaders and Operation Transformation team there on the day will be a brilliant motivation for people to come along, have a chat and get moving".

Should you be interested in the 'Give a Sport a Go' day, please contact Westmeath Sports Partnership on 044-9390208 or email info@westmeathsports.ie or check out our facebook page. Alternatively, keep an eye on the Operation Transformation website www.rte.ie/ot and the OT facebook page.

So, don't forget: Give a Sport a Go' day in Athlone IT on 5th February 2011 from 12-3pm. Registration will be open from 11am on the day. Look forward to seeing you there!
