Irish international badminton player Sinead Chambers lost out to Perrine le Buhanic in the women's singles final at the Fyffes Irish Futures Series tournament in Baldoyle, Dublin today (Sun). Despite saving four match points, Chambers lost 21-9, 21-19. In the men's singles final, Mattias Wigardt of Sweden had a comfortable straight sets win over Maxim Michel of France. Match of the day proved to be the men's doubles decider, where the young Welsh pairing of Daniel Font and Oliver Gwilt toppled top seeds Martin Campbell and Angus Gilmour. After losing the opening set 12-21, Font and Gwilt dug deep to win the second set 26-24 and then close out the game 21-16 in the tie-breaker.

The experienced pairing of Edward Cousins and Keelin Fox saw off the youthful challenge of Stuart Lightbody and Caroline Black in an all- Irish mixed doubles final at the Fyffes Irish Futures Badminton Series in Baldoyle Dublin tonight (Sat). After the early nerves settled, Cousins and Fox always had the edge with their solid serves and big smashes. Sunday's programme begins with the men's final (10am), followed by the men's doubles and the women's singles.
In the women's doubles, experience again won out with Sinead Chambers and Jennie King beating junior internationals Rachel Darragh and Alannah Stephenson in another all-Irish final.

Fyffes Irish Futures Badminton Series Baldoyle Top seed Mattias Wigardt of Swedene will play second seed Maxime Michel of Frasnce in the men's singles final at the Fyffess Irish Futures Badminton Series in Baldoyle. Widgardt beat English player Jamie Bonsels in today's semi-finals, while Michel put out Marius Myrhe of Sweden. Ireland's Tony Stephenson reached the quarter-finals before losing to Myrhe. In the women's singles, Ireland's Sinead Chambers will face the top seed Perrine le Buhanic of France in tomorrow's final.

Top men's seed Mattias Wigardt from Sweden will face Dutch player Jordy Hilbink in the quarter-finals of the men's singles at the Fyffes Irish Future Series in Baldoyle Badminton Centre, Dublin today (Sat). Wigardt had two solid wins in the opening rounds of the tournament, beating Thomas Nero from Portugal in his opening match and then fellow Swede ChristianPetterson, a qualifier, in round two. In the bottom end of the draw, Ireland's Tony Stephenson will play the No 2 seed Maxime Michel from France . Stephenson beat fellow Irish international Stuart Lightbody in his second round match; Michel beat Irish junior Jonathan Dolan, who came through the qualifying tournament. In the women's singles, Jennie King of Ireland went out to the top seed Perrine Le Buhanic from France, who will now play Alannah Stephenson of Ireland in today's quarter-finals. Stephenson beat Sweden's Amanda Andem in her second round match.

Also safely through to the quarter-finals is the Irish No 2 seed Sinead Chambers. She will face Finland's Karolina Latola, who was given a tough work-out by Irish player Aisling Ryan in her opening round. In the men's doubles, Sam Magee and his English partner Ben Caldwell beat Scottish pair Matthew Carder and Andrew Gillilard in the second round and now play No 2 seeds Daniel Font and Oliver Gwilt from Wales for a place in the semi-finals.

Irish pairs Sinead Chambers and Jennie King and Rachel Darragh and Alannah Stephenson are both through to the semi-finals of the women's doubles.

Young Irish pair Jonathan Dolan and Alannah Stephenson caused the upset of the day at the Fyffes Irish Future Badminton Series in Baldoyle, Dublin. In the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles, they put out top seeds Ciaran Chambers and Sinead Chambers in a thrilling match that wasn't decided until the final few points of an absorbing third set. Earlier, Dolan and Stephenson, who both also had busy schedules in the singles and doubles, had beaten Nic Strange and Aimee Moran of Wales in their first mixed opening match. They took a while to settle, losing the the opening set 17-21 to the Chambers,1 but then came storming back to win the second 21-10 and set up the tie-breaker. With both pairs producing great badminton the pairs traded points until Dolan and Stephenson pulled ahead for a narrow 21-19 win.They now face the experiencined Irish pairing of Edward Cousins and Keelin Fox in Saturday's semi-finals. An all-Irish final could be in prospect after Stuart Lightbody and Caroline Black beat Christian Petterson of Sweden and Mikaela Henrietta Jantti of Finlandm, despite dropping the first set. They face Scottish pair Patrick Machugh and Caitlin Pringle in the semi-finals.

The 2012 Fyffes Irish Future Series kicked off in Baldoyle badminton Centre and with player's travelling from all round Europe it is set to be a very exciting few day's in the Countries Capital City. There has been a real buzz around in the build-up to the event and with the competition having support from AERTV covering the games live and sponsor's through Fyffes, the Hilton and Carlton the tournament has attracted a lot of attention so far.

On the Opening day it was Men's Singles Qualification, and with a number of home player's competing against the strong foreign field coming to make their mark on Irish soil it made for a great start for the tournament.

For the Irish involved only two player's made it through Qualification Jonathan Dolan Beating number 5 rom Denmark in his final of qualification in 3 Set's 19-21 21-5 21-13.

The other Irish player making it through his final of Qualification was Joshua Magee who saw of the challenge of French player Francois Maxime winning 21-14 23-21 21-7. Ironically the player's will now face each other in the main draw.
