Find Your Trail
Today the Irish Sports Council launched a digital Video #FindYourTrail to encourage people of all ages and ability to enjoy the great Irish outdoors.
Recreational trails help people to enjoy the outdoors and facilitate, promote and manage a range of outdoor activities including countryside walking and hiking, on and off-road cycling, trail running, canoeing, horse-riding and even motorised sports, all with the aim of providing a pleasant, safe and enjoyable experience to trail users.
Chief Executive of the Irish Sports Council, John Treacy said: "Participation in physical activity is on the increase and recreational walking is hugely popular. Over 785 trails are registered under the National trails office and I would encourage people to get active and develop habits of regular exercise which will ultimately lead to enhanced quality of life".
National Trails Manager of the Irish Sports Council, Cormac MacDonnell, commented: " We are delighted with the new trails video as there are now hundreds of fantastic trails developed right around Ireland, from coastal to forest walking trails, water and cycling trails. These trails are a great way for people to discover and get active in Ireland's great outdoors with family and friends "
